Richard F. Riedel, M.D.

Dr. Richard F. Riedel is an associate professor with tenure in the Division of Medical Oncology at Duke University Medical Center. He also serves as the associate director for clinical and translational research at the Duke Sarcoma Center and is the program director for the Duke Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program. Dr. Riedel received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. He completed his internal medicine residency, chief residency, and hematology-oncology fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center. 

Dr. Riedel’s clinical and research interests focus on identifying novel therapeutics for patients with soft tissue and bone sarcoma. He is an active participant in the Sarcoma Alliance for Research through Collaboration and is a member of both the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Connective Tissue Oncology Society. Additionally, he serves on the NCCN guideline committees for soft tissue sarcoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.

Furthermore, Dr. Riedel co-chairs the ECOG-ACRIN Sarcoma Working Group and is a member of the ASCO Oncology Training Program Committee. He also serves on the medical advisory board for the Sarcoma Foundation of America and is a past chair of the ASCO Education Section for Sarcoma.
