Having pain again. My dr said I can get it removed as a recurrence. Is there anything that could be done to shrink it or kill the cells after takened out. It’s on my chest wall. I had breast cancer with a mastectomy 6 years ago.

Hey @A MyDesmoidTumorTeam Member! This is a great question. I would suggest calling/talking to your surgeon and seeing if they suggest you talk with an oncologist. All in all, there's not right or wrong answer as you're trying to figure out next steps 😊 Let us know what your surgeon or oncologist says!

I'm sorry to hear about your recurrence and the pain you're experiencing. Here are some treatment options for desmoid tumors in the chest wall that could be considered to manage or shrink the tumor:

- Chemotherapy: This uses potent drugs to kill tumor cells and can be effective for aggressive tumors or those near vital organs.
- Targeted Therapies: Medications like imatinib (Gleevec), pazopanib (Votrient), and sorafenib (Nexavar) block proteins that send growth signals in tumor cells.
- Radiation Therapy: This uses concentrated X-ray beams to damage tumor cells and may be used alone or with surgery.
- Active Surveillance: Sometimes, a "watch-and-wait" approach is taken if the tumor is not causing significant issues.

It's important to discuss these options with your medical team to determine the best course of action for your specific situation. Regular follow-ups are crucial to monitor for any changes or recurrence.
